IT Security Best Practices Seminar

BIG FLATS, NY -- November 10 2006 Sixty-two healthcare, financial, and IT professionals learned about government compliance, IT solutions, and the FBI's efforts to fight cybercrime at Databranch's kick-off solutions seminar today at the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center at the Elmira-Corning Regional Airport. Holly Hubert, FBI Supervisory Special Agent in charge of the Buffalo region's cybercrime squad, explained the FBI's varied role in cybercrime enforcement. Ranging from spammers to software pirates to Al-Quaida terrorists, the cybercrime squad investigates criminal complaints about computer-specific crimes, and also assists in criminal cases where suspects use computers to communicate and store data. Hubert discussed her office's role in the 'Lackawanna Six' Al-Quaida terrorist cell investigation. She also explained how businesses can partner with the FBI to help fight crime

Representatives from APC, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Symantec, and Veritas discussed how their solutions can help organizations of all sizes protect their organizations from data loss or tampering
