We’ve made it to the middle of summer and as the temperature rises we have been emphasizing to clients the importance of maintaining a proper environment for their servers and other critical network equipment. The optimal temperature for a server room is between 68 and 71 degrees Fahrenheit. The maximum recommended temperature is 80 degrees and the lowest recommended temperature is 50 degrees.
Airflow around servers and network equipment is critical to extending the life of your equipment and maintaining a high performance quality. Without proper airflow, temperatures can rise surrounding the equipment even when the room temperature is within the optimal range. For personal computing devices, we recommend keeping devices out of direct sunlight and tell our clients to avoid taking their mobile devices outside when the temperature is over ninety degrees or above eighty percent humidity.
